Plethonís Philosophical Neopagan Theology

The philosopher George Gemistos Plethon (c.1355Ė1452) developed a Neopagan theology and religion based on Platonic philosophy and the gods of ancient Greece, as understood by Platonists and other ancient sages. It is, he claimed, based on universal principlesóa prisca theologiaóknown from the most ancient times (5000 years before the Trojan War!). Although much of his Book of Laws was destroyed by an intolerant churchman, his ideas were very influential on Renaissance mages such as Marsilio Ficino and Pico della Mirandola.
